Cheers to 2013!

In 2007, I started Style Anywhere. It was not planned to keep this up, until now. But, there is something about it that makes me carry on – I consider it as an avenue for me to share what I am most interested with; fashion and fashion photography.

Jump to 2012, a special year for me. I was able to cover fashion week from Milan, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin and New York. At times when I reminisce, I still get ecstatic. Who will not be? Being in a venue with the people I look up to; all glued staring at beautiful clothes in a great Dolce & Gabbana show was just surreal. It was one of those cloud nine moments!

It is also my personal feat, as I am able to produce and shot more fashion stories – inspired by religion, life stories, sensuality, drama and cinema - for several print and online magazines. You see, there is something beautiful and rewarding in materializing a plot through creative direction, photography and fashion. When I start looking at the output and I feel I was able to achieve what the company – editors, writers, designers, stylists, hair and make-up artists, models and fashion comrades – aimed for, then it is an “Oh, wow!” emotion.

I believe that while fashion designers find joy in their collections – pieces of garments -, fashion photographers find it in stories – series of photos. I am grateful to everyone whom I worked with.

Features and interviews in 2012, including that with Marie Claire Italia, Female Singapore, Philippine Daily Inquirer to name a few, are very encouraging. It gives me more the dynamism and inspiration to continue. It is a pat on the back. Thank you.

There is an anticipation in 2013. Some changes with the website will take place. I will be adding more features including interviews of creative people and will be sharing more personal experiences in my journey. I hope to inspire you more, not just with visuals but with features and stories of creative geniuses. Hold on.

Thank you for the support and I look forward to seeing you again in 2013. Happy New Year, everyone. Cheers!

Through The Viewfinder : Travel Jakarta

Jakarta is such a vibrant city. Those who live here have a love and hate relationship with the city. Yes, we hate the traffic, but we love the excitement and what ever the city has got to offer. This is the city that is filled with opportunities. This is why, it is so densely populated with roughly 8.5 million people.

The majority of Indonesians are Muslim, but Indonesia recognizes 4 other religions, which are Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism and Hinduism. When you travel around Jakarta you can see religious establishments adhering to the 5 beliefs.

Weddings here are generally traditional and elaborate, often lasting for days. It’s really festive involving rituals, with plenty of food and music. Definitely something worth experiencing since you will really get the feel of our culture.

Jakarta is also known for  ‘ojeks’, which refers to people that offers transportation service on their motorbike. This is a fast and efficient way of getting around town.

We are also rich in natural resources. That’s the very reason why we were once colonized. But today Indonesia is a proud and strong country. We are even considered as one of the major exporters, ranging from coffee to coal.

Everything from food to nightlife, Jakarta truly gives you a variety of things to choose from. Jakarta simply doesn’t miss a beat.

The Meaning of my life is

I’ll take her laughter and her tears
And make them all my souvenirs
For where she goes I’ve got to be
The meaning of my life is
