Scheduled to show his Pre-Spring 2003 collection at the Audi Fashion Festival on the 17th of May is Timo Weiland.

“Born in rural Nebraska and raised between New York City and Jacksonville, Florida, Timo Weiland’s influences reach from the urban to the pastoral. Training from his mother at an early age in sewing coupled with an understanding of fabric, sparked Timo’s early interest in fashion. Timo always demonstrated an inclination towards the arts via ongoing sketching, painting, and photography. However, he majored in Economics, Spanish Literature, and Business Management and minored in Vocal Performance at Vanderbilt University before returning to New York to pursue a career in fashion and to ultimately launch his namesake brand.” – Timo Weiland

 Pauline was chosen to represent Philippines in the Elite Model Look competition in Shanghai China in 2011. She is 18 years old.

 In September 2010, Nicola was announced as the new Creative Director of the Thierry Mugler, which in January 2011 he decided to change the brand name to MUGLER.

At MUGLER Formichetti oversees designers Sébastien Peigné for womenswear and Romain Kremer for menswear. Joël Palix, director general of the company, said “We were looking for a young talent who could really bring energy to the brand… Nicola is a multiculural, techno-savvy expert involved in fashion, communication, image and entertainment. He and the appointed talented designers will represent a new direction for French fashion.”

Sculptured silhouettes that started from white transitioning to colors, then finally to black dominated the runway at the MUGLER’s show.

Ria has graced the covers of international magazines including that of Surface Asia Issue no. 6 and the latest edition of Illustrado. She also stars in a fashion editorial of the current Metro Magazine, wearing couture pieces from one of Philippine’s best designers Rajo Laurel.

With her unique presence and seasoned walk on the runway, expect Ria to model at the Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2012!

“Just being a part of the Philippine Fashion Week is one of my biggest dreams as a model but of course, I’d also love to be a cover of a local fashion magazine and walk for Philippines’ biggest fashion designers. I have a super crazy and wildest dream though, that is to be a part of a Versace and Elie Saab fashion show.”

Jessica has already appeared on major campaigns for Manila’s biggest clothing brands including Plains & Prints, Shapes and Celine. She is also featured on the latest issue of Metro Wedding, Zone and Flique magazines.

In connection with this partnership, I will be featuring 10 models I photographed during the designers’ general fitting on 10 May. These ladies are representative of the international scene, the experts and the new faces. Each day, before the commencement of the event, one model will be introduced.

First on the list is Ford Models Supermodel of the World 2011 winner Danica Magpantay. Danica bested models from all over the world making her the first Filipina model to win the contest.

Danica has walked for designers in New York including Bibhu Mohapatra and Nanette Lepore, among others. She has also appeared on fashion editorials for Manila’s biggest magazines. Recently, she was chosen as one of the most stylish women by Mega Magazine. Danica is represented by Cal-Carries Manila, and Ford New York.

Here is a preview of a fashion story I photographed earlier today. Entitled “The Prey”, this shoot features model Jodilly Pendre wearing designs from Erika Adona, Seph Bagasao (who also did the styling), Renz Reyes, Riza Bulawan, Ken Samudio and Dan Duran. Hair and make-up by Katchie Mejias.

Men in leather jackets exuding a devil-may-care vibe paraded the runway with Gian Romano’s Reverb collection. Romano studied Menswear Design at Central St. Martins London and apprenticed with Three Asfour in New York.

Entitled Resonance: The Sound of Blood, Lorico took inspiration from the tribal group of Southern Philippines. Black and red dominates his clothes that uses knits and metal embellishment. Lorico recently exhibited his designs at the London Fashion Week 2012.

“The collection was heavily inspired by the odd combination of Knights of Columbus and the Renaissance Wicca” says Kermit Tesoro. Tesoro is also famous for his signature heel-less and skull-heel shoes, as included in the Lady Gaga X Gilt Collaboration curated by Nicola Formichetti, and a participation with French designer Florian Jayet’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection in London Fashion Week.

The show took the audience to a dystopian and futuristic era with its cohesive collection.

Pushing the boundaries of men’s fashion is designer Kim Choong-Wilkins of BODYBOUND. A graduate of Central Saint Martins in 2005, Kim Choong-Wilkins has worked for brands such as Alexander McQueen, Emernigildo Zegna and Matthew Williamson.

Men’s Fashion Week started with the opening show featuring classic menswear from Nick Hart of Spencer Hart. The brand is from Savile Row in London, a shopping street known for its traditional bespoke tailoring.

Models walked on the runway barefooted.

Here is an excerpt from an interview with Nick Hart in GQ UK. “Some people think that we make modern clothes which is not really what we’re trying to do. They are quite modern because they’re disciplined and simple, but when you look at our branding it’s quite romantic. We’re going through a big branding exercise at the moment and I was trying to get people to understand that we’re not Helmut Lang or Calvin Klein. It’s not about minimalism. I don’t want hard-edged typography because there’s a kind of romance – I hope – and an elegance – I hope – running through what we do.

The most important thing about a suit is probably the shoulder.”

Following the show and returning at the Singapore Men’s Fashion Week is Songzio from Korea with its knee-length coats and structured jackets accessorized with hats.

The label, dubbed as the ‘Best in Korea’, has been showing its collection at Paris Fashion Week since 2007.
